Long long ago in ancient India There was a king named Raja. He was very fond of hunting. Whenever his kingdom is prosperous and no external threat facing the borders, he will spend most of time either hunting or worshiping sages in the jungle. He was so brave that often he used to go on his hunting trip alone. During one of such hunting trip he went much deeper in the Jungle and lost his ways.He tried very hard to find his way out of the forest but he keep on getting no where and soon he was out of water and food. All of sudden he heard some voice, "OM, OM, OM.....".
There was a big smile on king face as he heard the sound of OM , as he new there was cottage of some sage nearby. He could get some food and water from Sage and will also get a way to go back to his kingdom. He started following the sound of OM. Soon the sounds started becoming louder as he approached the Sage cottage.
When king arrived at the king cottage he say as young sage of age 10-15 years was chanting those words OM, OM, OM........ He want to the sage cottage, removed his shoes and did Dandwat greeting (180 degree) to sage. And said, "Respected Sage Sir, I have lost my way in this Forrest . I am also out of water and food. Please grant me some water and food and if possible show me the way how I can go back to my kingdom." But Sage keep on chanting, "OM, OM, OM,....". King repeated his plea one time, two time, three time, four time, five time, six time, ......, hundred time . But it had no effect on the Sage.
Loosing his patience , king touched the sage to attract some attention. Oh my God! You know what happened? Guess, Guess...
Sage all of sudden turned into smoke and one sound appear from inside the Cottage. "Stupid king, what you did? Now get ready for your punishment." King started trembling with fear as he knew that when Sages get angry they will curse you and will convert into mouse or cat. He begged, "Respected sage Sir, Please forgive me. I was hungry, thirst and lost in this forest. I came here to ask for help. Please forgive me." Then voice came from inside the cottage, " So you are thirsty. I will not punish hungry and thirsty person. Go inside the cottage. There is water and some fruits. Eat and drink and come out." Poor hungry and thirsty king ran inside the cottage and came out after eating and drinking water.
Agin sound came from inside the cottage, "Now you are not hungry or thirsty. Now I can punish you for converting me into the smoke." King start pleading again. " Please respected sage Sir, do not curse me. Please, Please , PLEASSSSSE". Again voice cam from inside the cottage, 'So you want to avoid punishment, then look to your left and go to that other cottage. Do not tell who you are and keep on doing what are you asked to do."
King happily ran to the other cottage. Voice of a lady came from Inside, "You finally came back? Go sweep whole backyard. When done with the backyard bring 20 pot of drinking water. When you are done with the water, cut grass for 20 cows and then cook food for 10 people and on and on and on.. . Then you go back from where you came back."
Raja scared of the curse from the Sage keep on doing all chores whole day and was done before day end. As suggested by the voice inside the house , after doing all chores, he went back to the first cottage.
When he reached at the first cottage, he saw the Sage sitting and smiling there. Raja went to Sage and said, "Respected Sage, I did everything , please do not punish me." Sage said smilingly, "You already had your punishment. That was my mother in that hut, who was asking me to do all that stuff. And I was doing OM, OM here loudly to to avoid listening from her. Now you have done that work so I can meditate now peacefully. Dear King you go back to your kingdom now by following this map drawn on that leaf".
The King, Raja, was relaxed and went back to his kingdom. He was relaxed that he was not cursed into mouse and Sage was happy as he do not have to do all that work :)
